South West Norway

As with other Stave churches, (Stavkirche), Røldal Stave Church is made of wood so many have not survived. It was built between 1200 and 1250, and is famous for its healing crucifix, still in the church. It is beautifully decorated inside. Well, so we are told, as unfortunately we couldn't get a look inside as we only had euros which they do not accept!
